Originally from Syracuse, Nebraska, I grew up a coach’s kid and played many different sports. I was a 3-sport athlete all of high school, playing varsity softball, basketball and track. When I got to college, I pursued joining a show choir and stepping away from sports. However, I missed the competitive aspect of sports. I was given the opportunity to try CrossFit at Kearney CrossFit and fell in love immediately with the diversity of movements and physical challenges it brought each day. During the two years I was a member of Kearney CrossFit, I competed in two different partner competitions and a Spartan Race. I saw the mental and physical strength I was gaining each day and craved more challenges. Going into my senior at the University of Nebraska Kearney, I enlisted in the Nebraska Army National Guard and later completed Officer Candidate School. Now serving as a commissioned officer in the National Guard, I am continually challenged physically and mentally but also get to stay closer to home while I teach and coach.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in PK-12 Health and Physical Education with a minor in Family Studies. I currently teach Healthy Living and Crosstraining at Millard West High School and coach the Reserve Girls Basketball Team. I truly believe living a healthy lifestyle is the foundation to pursuing your life’s goals and I strive to share that with others through my experiences and education.
